Speaking: Our Way of Teaching
We have designed our own very simple and easy-to-follow strategies for scoring high in each of the four modules of lELTS. My students very easily score 8+ bands.
The speaking test lasts between 11 and 14 minutes. lt is divided into 3 sections.
In Section 1, the candidates answer questions about themselves, their family, their job or studies, their hobbies and interests and a wide range of similar familiar topic areas. This part lasts between 4 and 5 minutes.
In section II, the candidate is given a cue card with prompts and is asked to talk on a particular topic. The candidate has the preparation time of one minute and he has to speak for two minutes.
Section III lasts for 5 to 6 minutes and the candidate is asked questions thematically related to section II, but in the broader context in terms of the people, the country and the world. The candidates are evaluated on the basis of 4 parameters.
- Lexical resource and accuracy
- Grammatical range
In our classroom, a lot of opportunity is given to each candidate to expres his ideas and views on different topics of cue cards. Approximately 150 topics are covered, ranging from very simple ones like health or weekends to more challenging ones like feminism, Eco-tourism, global warming etc.
Besides, 40 complete interviews are thoroughly discussed, covering every aspect in minute details.
We give individual sessions to each candidate to cover their personal questions of section I like job profile, native place, hobbies and interests etc. We guide them in writing 25 such questions about themselves in detail. Out of these questions, six are compulsorily asked.
The duration of our course of IELTS is two months and in the end of the course, every student not only achieves fluency and accuracy in each of the four skills, but also becomes highly confident and knowledgeable, being exposed to exhaustive range of subjects in each module.
